When can my baby eat candy?

What I love about my Husband is that ever since I got pregnant to our Jellybean, we always exchange notes and researches regarding our baby's development. Until now, we still exchange notes that we find helpful for our growing baby here in the outside world. Just sharing what I got from BabyCenter---my favourite baby website ever!

Expert Answers from...

"We introduce our children to sweets, especially candy and sugared soda, at much too young an age in this country," says Claudia Gonzalez, a registered dietitian in Miami. "I always advise holding off on sweets for as long as possible, at least until after 2 years," she adds. Candy is chock-full of empty calories, and you want to make sure your child eats more nutrient-packed foods. He needs a healthy diet to fuel all the growth that's taking place in his body and mind. Also, eating habits and tastes are learned early, so what you offer your child now will affect him for the rest of his life. Helping him get off to a healthy start sets the stage for a lifetime of nutritious eating.

For safety's sake, never give your baby hard candies such as peppermints, butterscotch drops, or jelly beans before age 4. This type of candy can easily cause choking because it slips easily down the throat and babies can't chew it properly. Small pieces of chocolate that melt in your child's mouth are fine as a special treat after age 2.

Realistically, your child will figure out soon enough that sweets are...sweet. But you can help him make smart choices. "If you really want to offer your child a sweet, stick with ice cream or pudding on occasion. At least those treats have some calcium in them," says Gonzalez.

And give some thought to why you offer sweets. If sweets tend to be a reward in your house, consider nonedible treats instead. Most young children would be just as happy — if not more so — with a new roll of stickers as with a candy bar.

LUCKILY, our Jaleel eats really well and she's not a picky eater. We did not introduce her into colas, sweets and chocolates and we are planning to continue this until her diet is well stabilized. She eats veggies and loves it. She eats ampalaya, broccoli, and other healthy leafy veggies. Thank you baby for not giving us hard time on your meals---except those kalat under your booster seat HAHA.

Jaleel's 6th month Birthday and Christening

It's Jaleel's 6th month birthday!! She's half a year old now. We really wanted to have her Christening last October 17 (a day after my birthday) but because of financial issues and typoon Ondoy, we have to postpone it. Daddii Carlo and I decided to celebrate it on her 6th month instead. We had a great time even though we didn't get to enjoy the pool. ;p

RE-POST: The Healing Experience

Jaleel was diagnosed with skin asthma and atopic dermatits and according to Dr. Pornel (her pediatrician), you can never tell when the next attack will be.
My husband and i used different creams and ointments just to heal baby Jaleel’s skin and rashes, but all of them failed to solve the problem unlike Oasis’ Soothing Baby Oil!
After reading all those Oasis’ reviews amd after it was featured in Umagang kay Ganda, i hurriedly asked my husband to buy it.
It was just an amazing experience.  Jaleel never had a smooth buttocks before using this oil.  I use it everyday after Jaleel’s bath time and every diaper change. It was worth the try.  Plus, another reason why it is worth the try is because it’s ALL NATURAL..

Yey. Jaleel is five months already and we had her first ever photoshoot at BUB gateway mall. Together with Lola Vangie, Tita Joyce and Tito Dan,
we enjoyed changing Jaleel's costumes and had fun making her laugh.
Though the hardest part is holding her up because she still doesn't now how to sit by herself.
Thanks to Matthew Militar (our photographer) for accomodating us and for the discounts as well!

We are planning to have those prints included in the invites for Jaleel's Christening. Enjoy Viewing!

Jaleel loves my milk
Yippee! Jaleel is four months already. Look, she grew fatter and healthier, too. She really loves mommy's breast milk until now. I’m planning to stop
breastfeeding her as soon as she is ready to be weaned.

Waternymph Resort
Today, we planned Jaleel’s christening. We spent the day looking for Jaleel’s christening reception venue. We drove around Marikina city and we found Waternymph Resort. We really liked the place and talked to the person in charge regarding the fees. The resort care taker toured us around the place and showed us the amenities. She even recommended some tips on how to set-up the whole place based on the events that they held there. Finally, we agreed on a date-October 17. We got their contact numbers so that we can further discuss the transaction and to finalize everything. We left Waternymph resort knowing that we already found what we were looking for, a beautiful and yet affordable events place.

On our way home, Jaleel started blabbing sounds. We were all laughing inside the car as if she is making any sense. From that point on we knew that any days from now we would be hearing clearer words from our little chatter.

The Magic Book!

The Magic Book
I bought this Hello Kitty book on sale at national bookstore in Cash n Carry Makati. This book is very cute. It has bold hello kitty pictures, fun shapes and comes with hello kitty's hello shape stencils—that can be used in making greeting cards, ornaments, gift tags and party streamers, too. I never thought that this book will make my little star laugh really hard. And the magic word? HELLO KITTYYYYYYYYY. ;P

after ONE month

June 22, 2009

It's Jaleel's first month birthday. Time flies so fast. She's one month already and I'm still adjusting to our new sleeping patterns. Now, she can say a lot of “aahs” and “oohs”. She can also respond to different sounds. She stares to mommy and daddy all the time. .and still, her favourite thing to do was to smile and laugh even when sleeping. We celebrated her first month birthday with my family and enjoyed the rest of the day. How wonderful it was!

Goodnight, Baby.

I love staring at her each time she falls asleep. .and kiss her. and kiss her.

she's HAPPY BABY!

During my pregancy, I LOOOOOOOOVE eating chocolates such as Cadbury Caramello and Kitkat. Researchers in Finland say eating chocolate during your pregnancy may make for happier babies. OH! I had ONE. Look at my 5-day-old Jaleel Caramelle, laughing out loud! ;D
